# Detection mode

> Choose the coverage, validation, and cost of Correctness reviews.

Correctness selects its models automatically. Detection mode controls how much analysis and validation it performs. [Check Run Agents](/check-run-agents) use their own [model configuration](/model-pricing).

## Modes

| Mode | Tradeoff |
| - | - |
| Budget | Fastest and lowest cost; lower coverage and precision. |
| Balanced (default) | Broad bug detection with less validation than Precise. |
| Precise | Additional validation to reduce false positives; more time and cost. |
| Ultra | More parallel agents and advanced models for maximum coverage. |

[Correctness pricing](/pricing#code-review) lists each mode's per-KB rate and minimum charge. GitHub reviews have a **10 KB minimum per review**. [CLI reviews](/cli#pricing) are billed via Agent credits.

## Choose a mode

Set the mode per repository in **Settings → Repos**, or for your own PRs in **Settings → Personal → Code Review → Detection Mode**. Personal settings override repository preferences.

For a single run, comment:

```

For every review of a PR, add a [mode label](/correctness#pr-labels).

For local changes, use the CLI's [`--mode` flag](/cli#detection-mode).
